As you know (Bob), social media is a mixed blessing. So many possibilities to express ourselves and connect, so many opportunities for increased freedom of expression… such a gift to opinionated dickwads.
Anyhoo, as you also know, Twitter (which was my preferred place to confer my wit and wisdom upon a tiny subset of the people of the world) is not what it once was.
I’m still there though sometimes it makes me feel vaguely unclean. I’ve been watching with increasing exasperation as various alternative places to hang out were suggested (Mastodon, Hive etc etc) but never quite ‘took’.
However, the spinning pointer appears to have stopped, for now at least, on Bluesky, which so far looks a lot like Twitter, but without the dickwads. So I’m there as @jainefenn.bsky.social. If you’re there too, say hello.
What’s that? It needs and invite code, you say? Yeah, that’s a downside. But you’rein luck: I’ve just about been there there long enough to earn an invite code and in a shameless attempt to see if anyone reads this blog, I can offer it to the first person to comment here (you’ll also need to provide me with an email, which you can securely do via my contact page, and which will be used only to send you the code then deleted afterwards blah blah blah GDPR blah).
