We’re back from another excellent BristolCon. Lots of great panels, a lovely atmosphere and a chance to catch up with old friends and make new ones. Also cake. There’s always plenty of high quality cake, given away for free, at Bristolcon. Other cons could learn from this.
Highlights included Paul Cornell’s kaffeklatsch (though I don’t read much Urban Fantasy I love his Shadow Police books) and an excellent Guest of Honour interview with Emma Newman – owing to a clash I missed Jon Courtney Grimwood’s GoH slot. Despite my avowed intention not to buy more books we somehow came home with a bagful.
My panels went well, with good combinations of people on all of them and a tolerant moderator for the last one who allowed me to bring on a stunt double to answer the hard questions – I started the con knackered and three panels and a reading left me a bit wiped out, if happy. Talking of the reading – because I ran over time I forgot to mention the upcoming anthology which ‘Down at the Lake’ appears in, a mistake I’ll remedy here soon.
Last but not least I am delighted to announce that I will be a Guest of Honour at next year’s BristolCon. I’ll be sharing the bill with Jasper Fforde and will absolutely not fangirl him, no not at all. It’s not an exaggeration to say I’m looking forward to it already.
My eldest who came to the reading is very happy to hear that story will be available!
Cool. The Anthology the story appears in is called Wicked Women, but it’s not on sale yet.
We’ll be very happy to have you as a GOH! 🙂
Aw, thanks. It’s going to be so much fun!
Great to see you at Bristolcon. Good news about next year.
Exciting news re next year. Might actually make it to a Bristolcon.
Thanks Sue. That’d be great.
