I’ve been invited to take part in a debate on ‘Women in Genre’ on 8th May, at Blackwell’s in London. Proceedings begin at 6.30pm, and I’m in great company, with other confirmed participants being: Janet Edwards, Karen Lord, Naomi Foyle and Stephanie Saulter.
The event was triggered at least in part by the – correct IMHO – perception that women who write SFF are still considered also-rans compared to their male peers. Not all women, and not all males, and Blackwells, bless ’em, are addressing this in their shops. Still … It’s a tricky subject, but rather than air my views in detail here, I’d like to invite people to come along on the night and see what we have to say.
I assume this is the Charing X branch up near Tottenham Ct Rd?
So they tell me.
It was awesome. Thanks for taking part!
And thanks for coming along.
