This time last week I was at Nine World Geekfest. The convention was, all in all, an excellent experience, especially considering it was the first such event the organisers had staged. Personal highlights included being introduced to the fine art of tea duelling and sharing the dance-floor with an alien.
I’ve got a packed schedule of other conventions coming up, and here they are:
Andromeda One – a one day con in Birmingham on Saturday 21st September at which I’m sharing the Guest of Honour slot with the excellent Paul Cornell and mainstay of the Brum SF scene Rog Peyton. The final programme is still being finalised, but I expected to do a reading and Q & A session and to hold a vinoklatch (like a kaffeeklatch but with less coffee and more wine).
BristolCon – another one day convention, this time in Bristol on Saturday 26th October. Not sure what I’ll be doing there yet, but if last year is anything to go by it’ll be a packed and interesting day, though possibly with less space toilets than previously.
World Fantasy Con – a rather larger event, in Brighton from Thurs 31st October to Sunday 3rd November. I believe I will mainly be in the bar.
Novacon – for my third con in a row I’ll be in Nottingham from 8th to 10th November, and will no doubt be both on the programme and in the bar.
After that lot, I’m going to have a good long lie down.
