… although some of you know already. For those that don’t: the committee of Novacon 42 have invited me to be their Guest of Honour next year. It would be accurate to describe my response to this as dead chuffed, not least because I have fond memories of attending Novacon as a fan back in the last millennium. Previous Novacon guests include Iain M Banks, Anne McCaffrey and Charles Stross, which tells you how honoured I’m feeling.
Congrats!
Thanks, Pippa
That’s so cool! I don’t usually go to Novacon as I’m all conned out by late October (and there’s that pesky NaNoWriMo thing that I generally get roped into) but it’s tempting – especially as the Robot Overlords are so nearby…
Cons do cluster about then, don’t they? And NaNoWriMo, yes.
*Congratulations!!!* Don’t know how I missed seeing this when you first posted. This is awesome news, very well deserved. Woooot!
Thanks, Tricia. Today (well, soon) Novacon, tomorrow, who knows? Eastercon … ? (Heh heh)
Hooray, now I want to attend so I can hob-nob with important guest types. Well done.
Yes, there will be proper important SF types there too, as well as yours truly. It would be great if you and M could make it – it’s been too long.
Woah! Major congrats! I remember John Brunner being guest at Novacon. Somewhere, I have a photo of him posing with a Masquerade contestant who was dressed as The Traveller In Black at Novacon.
It is more than well deserved. Youngest Child will be a university student at that point, so I think he will be attending his first SF con at that Novacon!
You know me, never one to miss out on corrupting the youth of today.
Congratualtions!
This was the first Novacon I’ve missed since I found Fandom. I’ll make sure I’m their next year!
Excellent, I’ll see you there. Now I just need to work out how to tell the committee that Novacon is the only con I’ve ever been thrown out of. Ah hell, it was a long time ago, under another name …
