The launch for Consorts of Heaven went well. As happened last year, myself and Beloved took the steam train to Alton. Also as happened last year this was a ‘real ale train’ allowing us to enjoy a swift half to set ourselves up for the day. Once in Alton we headed to our favourite deli for lunch where, thanks to the arrival of various friends over the next hour, we annexed the back room.
The signing itself was well attended; as well as the usual suspects (you know who you are), I saw friends I’d not met for years, and met new friends (I’m still getting used to the idea that people I don’t know actually read my stuff). Given the copies on sale were advance copies, I numbered them all as I signed them, though things got a little hectic around half way through, and I think I may have accidently signed two number seventeens. That should make them extra collectible.
My next engagement in this eventful week will be the BSFA meeting tomorrow evening. I still have no idea what I’m going to say, but I’m sure Kari will help me out.
