Fellow Gollancz author Suzanne MacLeod came up with the term ‘book birthday’ to describe the day you have your novel published. It’s one of the few life-changing events that Clintons don’t have a card for (yet).
Anyway, from today I will be unable to walk past a bookshop without popping in to check if they have a copy of PRINCIPLES OF ANGELS on the shelf.
I’m not doing much to celebrate today, partly because I’m too busy working on getting CONSORTS OF HEAVEN sorted in plenty of time for the end of the month, but mainly because the person I want to celebrate with is away. I may find time to pop down to the Posh Asian Bling shop in the village to buy myself something shiny.
Beloved is back tomorrow and there will be celebratory curry. Then I’m off to Lancaster for my first book-signing, which is on Sunday at Waterstones. I believe I get given curry whilst up there too.
